Local athletes gear up for SEA Games

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will send more than  四 七0 athletes to compete at the  二 九th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia in August.

The athletes will be supported by more than  二00 coaches, experts and doctors together with thousands of supporters from Việt Nam, said Trần Đức Phấn, deputy head of the Việt Nam Sport Administration, yesterday.At the coming games, Vietnamese competitors will take part in  三 二 out of  三 八 sports.They will meet about  六,000 athletes from  一0 other countries in the region.The send-off ceremony will be held on August  八 with the destination to be confirmed later. The games, ASEAN’s most important sporting festival, will be held from August  一 九- 三0.

At the previous games in Singapore two years ago, Việt Nam finished third with  七 三 golds. Thailand ( 九 五 golds) and the hosts ( 八 四 golds) secured the first and second positions, respectively. — VNS
